We are running webtrees DEMOs here within Joomla. Not really necessary in this environment. The man who created the shared login component for Joomla/PGV (Viet) did help us start our development of webtrees here, but is not currently available to work on it. I do know that he has created a site for a webtrees/Joomla component, but last time I looked he hadn't actually done development for it. Stephen is right that none of the current developers here have an interest in this area of work, so I'm afraid it's unlikely to gain much traction for the foreseeable future.Īs for "what advantages would I gain from migrating to webtrees instead", the list is very long. You will get a good feel for the differences browsing these pages, and this independent review might also help: But, if you look at PGV's sourceforge pages the most telling difference is clear. webtrees is an active project, with a VERY busy development team, and some amazing plans for its future. PGV, sadly, is in a state of "stasis" if not actual decline. Last release was almost 12 months ago, no active development, a growing list of unanswered bug reports, little support, etc. Hopefully it will be revived at some point, as it is a great product and we all owe much to its early success. I have just created a Joomla website for members of a musical production company and I can see the benefits of a dynamic CMS when it comes to managing content. I already have a bespoke family history website that includes PGV and Galler圓. PGV and Galler圓 originally used inline frames, now only PGV does so that Gallery is spawned out to a new browser session so that the user can view images and use PGV at the same time. I have three more family history web sites to start from scratch and I am happy to discard all previous approaches for better ones. Hello, it would be possible to generate my two points in webtrees. My recent experience with Joonla was a good one. Rees weaves expansion through integration of systems and information. for me, Joomla integration would be a welcome thing should anyone else be wondering if there is any further interest out there. I can't code but I would be more than happy to test and/or document from whichever direction it proceeds. Meanwhile I'm going to check out jFusion. Please Log in or Create an account to join the conversation. The only important integration for me will be single user logon (Joomla/webtrees/Gallery) and that will be my focus. I'm not taling about full Kunena like functionaliy/interface, just a lightweight one -) When it comes to having an internal (lightweight) forum module integrated in webtrees, I still think that this would have been very nice though :-) It's ofcourse two different things, but I would find a (lightweight) forum much more useful than the internal message system for instance. Anyway I know that this is probably not straight forward to do, but as said, if anyone has done this, please let me know where to start -) They should just be automatically created when created in webtrees or Joomla. It should not be possible (the way I would like this to work) to create new accounts in Kunena. When it comes to account I would like webtrees or Joomla to be the master system. As said, I don't have any experience with Joomla, but my guess is that Joomla maybe could fill that role the middle. Ofcourse system specific user settings would have to be managed by the native system, but it would be nice if it was possible to share (and manage) the accounts and basic login settings like username, password and email adress between them. My guess is that this could be done using webtrees, Joomla, Kunena and Jwebtrees in combination, but I have no experience with Joomla, Kunena or Jwebtrees, so I just wanted to get some tips from someone that might have tried and succeded with this. It is tips regarding integrating webtrees and Kunena I am specifically looking for, including integrating of login/accounts.
